Paula Tasker Lynch: Painting
I graduated from John Moores University with a BA(Honours) in Fine Art in 1993 and Cert.Ed in Teaching and Training in Further and Higher Education in 2002. I have had a studio at the Bridewell Studios since 1994. I spent 14 years lecturing in Fine Art, and Art and Design while continuing my own studio practice and exhibiting. I have exhibited works in Liverpool and across the North West of England. I am now working as an artist and also run art classes for adults, set up under the name ‘Liverpool Community Arts’.
My work is abstract and inspired by landscape and natural environments, particularly in capturing fleeting moments that create visual drama, be it changing light, contrasting colour and texture or the effects of weather. The dramatic landscapes and skies of the Pennines, Northern Ireland and Snowdonia are the main inspiration for much of my work. I work mainly in oils on canvas but also create mixed media relief pieces, and drawings on paper using inks and varnish. Strong colour contrasts and use of texture are key elements I use in creating my oil paintings, drawings and mixed media pieces.
